DJI Mimo on OnePlus 11R or higher version of OnePlus Mobiles which are running on Android v14 have known issues. The app either doesn’t get installed or after installing it doesn’t open and keeps stopping on its own.
My experience with DJI Mimo on OnePlus 11R mobile
In my case the app behaved even more weirdly. I downloaded the app from official download page of DJI Mimo. The app got installed well and I was able to open and pair the app with my DJI OSMO Mobile 6 gimble. However, after couple of days when I tried to re-open the app, it didn’t open. It would show the splash screen at the beginning with the DJI logo and suddenly stop. I have tried clearing cache, cleaning app data, downloading the app from different sources, reinstalling the app, restarting the mobile – everything. But nothing has worked. I really felt helpless when the app didn’t work even after reinstalling.
I then tried Googling the problem and found handful of DJI Forum posts and other threads where I noticed that similar problems were reported for various mobiles since Oct 2023. Many of them would share a download link of the app but none of them worked on my mobile. So I was almost at a conclusion that DJI Mimo app on OnePlus 11R mobile with Android 14 doesn’t work and there is no known workaround. I just have to wait until a working version of the app is released.
I was super frustrated because I didn’t know what to do with the DJI OSMO Mobile 6 Gimble, if I can’t use it with DJI Mimo on OnePlus 11R mobile which I had. Only then did I realize that I can atleast file a complaint to DJI by contacting them over chat. They have created a ticket for me and responded back after 24 hours. They have shared a download link for compatible DJI Mimo app which was not same as the one which is available on the official download page. I downloaded the app, uninstalled the existing ‘not working’ version and reinstalled the downloaded version. To my surprise, it worked just fine. Since then I was able to use the app just as normal and never encountered a problem.
I thought of writing the blog in a story-telling manner just because I wanted you to feel the disappointment I had and the disgusted I felt. For countries like India, the support and service of DJI has consistently been poor. It’s difficult to buy a DJI device at official price here and after purchase, if you encounter similar problem, there is no service center to go to and seek help. For this particular case, the online support came in handy and they really helped me solve the software problem.
At the time of writing this blog post, in Aug 2024, the app version available at the following download link is working perfectly on OnePlus 11R mobile and Android OS v14. However, in future if the link doesn’t open or a newer version is released, I’ll try to update the link.
Download DJI Mimo
Even though the download link is not same as the official one, but it’s from their official DJI Corp website, so feel free to download and use it. It is safe.
